New evidence has emerged in the case of the attack in Kallithea, where a Greek expatriate dentist allegedly assaulted two Egyptians with a baseball bat. Video footage being examined by authorities reportedly shows other individuals at the scene, with police investigating their exact role in the incident.
Specifically, according to video recorded from a local store and now under investigation, two individuals dressed in black clothing allegedly were near the dentist before and during the episode.
New video from the attack against Egyptians in Kallithea under investigation
According to the same sources, when the dentist allegedly strikes one Egyptian with the bat, the second man at the bus stop runs away from the scene. Seconds later, the two individuals in black appear to restrain him and lead him across to where the Greek expatriate was located.
The video reportedly shows that when the man is brought across, he kneels and raises his hands without receiving blows from the bat. However, the movements of those involved and each person’s exact role remain under investigation by police authorities.
This information has led police to search for two additional individuals potentially connected to the case, as they examine whether they actively participated in the incident or were accidentally present at the scene. The video also shows a woman who, according to sources, is allegedly the Greek man’s wife. Police continue collecting and analyzing video footage from security cameras in the area to fully clarify the circumstances of the attack and verify the degree of involvement of all persons appearing in the footage.
Criminal charges filed against three arrested suspects
Athens First Instance Prosecutor’s Office has proceeded with filing criminal charges at misdemeanor level against the three arrested individuals in the incident, creating two separate case files.
It should be noted that a 55-year-old dentist was arrested for the case, who clashed with two individuals of Egyptian origin and struck them with a baseball bat. Specifically, the first case file created by the prosecutor’s office is against the 55-year-old who is charged with dangerous bodily harm and illegal weapon possession and use. The defendant was referred for trial at the Athens Summary Single-Member Misdemeanor Court. The trial was postponed until June 18. The second case file concerns the two Egyptians who were charged with attempted joint theft and illegal entry into the country. This case file was also referred to the Summary Single-Member Court, with the trial postponed until June 19. The postponement was granted to allow the defense to present video evidence to clarify what happened.
They were photographing and outside our house for over an hour, says dentist’s wife
“They entered the yard and were photographing the house,” the two Egyptians in Kallithea, according to the wife of the Greek expatriate who beat them with a baseball bat. After the episode, both the two Egyptians and the Greek man were arrested. The Greek man’s wife said she was in shock and claimed the two Egyptians “were there for a very long time photographing, and the neighbor who came and testified, who has his building right next to ours. They were going back and forth. They were around our house for over an hour and a half.”
“I called him (husband) on the phone, I tell him ‘I don’t like this, they are… like this.’ That is, I called him first because I didn’t have time to call, I wanted to call the police. But as soon as they saw me and I said I would… They disappeared. But they say they allegedly wanted the store downstairs. The neighbor says they told him other things. To us they claimed they didn’t know any Greek at all. They both spoke fluent Greek. They entered the yard, my space, and were photographing the house exactly,” she told MEGA.
“He came out with the bat and hit him three times on the head”
An eyewitness described the moments of the serious incident in Kallithea where the 55-year-old attacked two Egyptians with a baseball bat.
“He came out with the bat, found one of the two, hit him on the head, gave him three blows with the bat to the head,” the woman who was at the scene when the incident occurred told SKAI.
“The second one came from across because he was beating him and told them to kneel and not move until police arrived,” she added, explaining that people gathered to help and asked the perpetrator to stop hitting them. The eyewitness also said that citizens who gathered at the scene washed the victim’s wounds with water.
