An entire cannabis factory hidden within a forest in the Vrachos area of Eurytania was discovered by forces from the Crime Investigation Department of Karpenisi, in an operation assisted by special police units. Specifically, the officers, who arrested two foreign nationals, located an organized cannabis plantation that had developed across a cleared area of approximately four acres, within dense natural fir vegetation. Additionally, a fully equipped cultivation facility was discovered, which included a makeshift greenhouse with 907 plastic germination containers filled with soil and cannabis seeds, several of which were already in development stage. Seven cannabis saplings with complete root systems, up to 20 centimeters in height, were also found and uprooted by authorities, along with 541 dried cannabis stalks from previous harvests.

Eurytania: Organized and extensive infrastructure network
The cultivation operation, according to police, featured an organized and extensive infrastructure network, as it had an irrigation system approximately 2 kilometers long that drew water from a nearby stream, ensuring complete water supply to the plantation. Makeshift shelters with tents were also created on the site, where food, clothing, and mattresses were found, while cultivation tools, fertilizers, photovoltaic equipment, and other items related to the facility’s operation were confiscated. The operation took place on Wednesday morning, May 27th, where the foreign nationals were found engaged in cultivation work. Mobile phones were found on them, as well as cash totaling 320 euros and 1,000 Albanian lek, which were confiscated.

The preliminary investigation is ongoing by the Crime Investigation Department of Karpenisi, while the arrested individuals were brought before the Eurytania Public Prosecutor’s Office and referred to investigative authorities with felony charges.
