The community in Zacharo was plunged into grief following the tragic death of 29-year-old Dimitris Melas, a professional soldier (EPOП) at the 117th Combat Wing, who lost his life in a fatal traffic accident on Sunday morning. The unfortunate man, according to partisnews, was returning from visiting his family in Artiki, Messinia, and was heading back to his duty station. During his journey through Zacharo, his car collided violently with the rear of a parked truck, under circumstances that are being investigated by the Pyrgos Traffic Police. The collision was so severe that the vehicle was turned into a shapeless mass of metal, while attempts by firefighters and rescue teams to free him were unsuccessful.
