The British Museum sent a response following a request from ERTnews for comment regarding the new discussion currently underway at UNESCO about the Parthenon Marbles.
What the British Museum says about talks with Greece
A British Museum spokesperson stated that “discussions with Greece about a ‘Parthenon Partnership’ are on-going and constructive.” They also noted that the Museum believes “this kind of long-term partnership would strike the right balance between sharing our greatest objects with audiences around the world, and maintaining the integrity of the incredible collection we hold at the museum.”
The British Museum did not provide specific commentary either on the new discussion taking place at UNESCO or on the Turkish intervention regarding the Ottoman firman.
