Video footage from a hotel that authorities have in their possession shows one of the arrested individuals carrying the 19-year-old, accompanied by the other two suspects, before leaving her in a semi-conscious state near the square where she was later found.

The investigation continues, while the Hellenic Weightlifting Federation has issued a statement regarding the former athlete arrested in Kefalonia for the 19-year-old’s death. The statement clarifies that the arrested individual is not an active athlete and does not hold an Athletic License. “The Hellenic Weightlifting Federation wishes to announce that the individual arrested in Kefalonia is not an active weightlifting athlete, nor does he hold an Athletic License. Any reference to him as a ‘weightlifting athlete’ unfairly tarnishes the effort and hard work of thousands of active weightlifting athletes who remain faithful to the values of Sport and Olympism and have no connection to illegal activities,” the Federation’s statement emphasizes.
