“We are on a very good track to secure the natural gas supply for winter,” said Eva Hrncirova, spokesperson for the European Commission on energy matters. She also expressed cautious optimism regarding the situation in the Strait of Hormuz, despite the volatile environment.
What Eva Hrncirova said about natural gas supplies
The European Commission provided an update on the progress of natural gas storage filling, with Eva Hrncirova noting that “the pace is slightly slower compared to previous years, but the process is developing well.”
According to the spokesperson, “at this moment, today, we are very close to 62% in natural gas storage filling,” although the target stands at 80%. She was quick to clarify, however, that this is not cause for alarm, as “there is no goal to fully fill storage facilities.”
She further stated that “we are on a very good track to secure the natural gas supply for winter,” and addressing the situation in the Strait of Hormuz, she emphasized that “we are in a very volatile environment, but we can say that the situation is stable and there is no risk to supply security.”
