They move from country to country, work remotely, and share their daily lives worldwide through the internet. Their message? “Fly, work, Stay, Repeat.” Digital nomads represent today one of the most dynamic and influential communities in global tourism, with a strong presence on platforms like YouTube and TikTok.

In this environment, Greece, as the only seaside capital in Europe with a unique geomorphological mix in the world, is preparing to play a dynamic role and strengthen its position as a modern destination ideal for work and accommodation year-round.
About four years ago, with the COVID-19 pandemic dramatically accelerating the trend of digital nomads and remote work, an unprecedented initiative for Greece began. Marketing Greece, a company that represents an alliance between the private and public sectors created by the Association of Greek Tourism Enterprises (SETE) and the Hellenic Chamber of Hotels (HCH), issued an open invitation through workfromgreece.gr to the international Digital Nomads community.
The goal was to facilitate their stay and living in Greece and begin a pilot project to establish Greece as an attractive destination for digital nomads who could work and travel year-round.

Digital nomads: Where AEGEAN, Global Nomad Pass and Marketing Greece are investing
With the central message “Save Globally, Support Locally,” workfromgreece.gr took on the role of connecting local communities and economies with digital nomads, partnering with Global Nomad Pass. At the same time, AEGEAN enters the action offering a 20% discount on a round-trip airline ticket within AEGEAN’s network for each beneficiary.
This partnership is called the Global Nomad Pass startup and has so far been developed in five destinations: Athens, Thessaloniki, Chania, Kalamata, and Ioannina.
“Through the privilege card, digital nomads secure exclusive discounts and benefits at selected businesses (coworking spaces, local cafes, restaurants, accommodations, wellness venues, etc.), numbering over 75,” Marketing Greece executives report.
Specifically, in addition to the discounts and privileges provided to digital nomads and remote workers, a 20% discount on a round-trip airline ticket within AEGEAN’s network is added for each beneficiary.

Marina Valvi (AEGEAN): “Modern destination for work and accommodation year-round”
“This collaboration is perfectly aligned with our strategy to support actions that enhance sustainable tourism development and establish Greece as a modern destination for work and accommodation throughout the year,” commented Marina Valvi, Corporate Affairs and Communications Director of AEGEAN, regarding the airline’s participation in the Global Nomad Pass program. “Through AEGEAN’s network, we facilitate digital nomads’ access to Greek destinations and strengthen their connection with local communities,” she added.
Additionally, 2,000 free one-year Welcome Passes (valued at $79.99 each) are offered to digital nomads and remote workers already in Greece or planning to visit.
“Our new strategic partnership with Global Nomad Pass represents a significant step in strengthening Greek destinations’ position on the global digital nomad map. Our goal is twofold: first, integrating digital nomad-friendly destinations into the rewards program, and second, practically encouraging this audience to return added value to the local community and economy during their stay in Greece,” stated Nikos Diamantopoulos, General Manager of Marketing Greece, emphasizing that ensuring direct contact and interaction between visitors and local communities and businesses is a Marketing Greece priority.
Finally, regarding the partnership with AEGEAN, Safir Jamal, Founder of Global Nomad Pass, said that “remote work in a complete travel ecosystem, namely Greece, rewards travelers not only for where they work but also for how they interact with the local community and economy.”
