President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, assured that all necessary actions have been taken in response to the latest provocation by Turkish Cypriots.
On Saturday morning, Turkish Cypriot soldiers in a military vehicle, accompanied by UN peacekeeping force members, expelled a Greek Cypriot farmer who had entered the buffer zone to tend to his field near the village of Denia.
Christodoulides: “All necessary procedures are being implemented to prevent such incidents from recurring”
President Christodoulides stated he was immediately informed about the incident and contacted the community president. “From the very first moment, all necessary procedures are being implemented in a specific direction to ensure such incidents do not recur,” he emphasized.
Referring to the Cyprus issue, he noted that such incidents “are certainly not positive developments” at a time when efforts are being made to create the appropriate climate for resuming negotiations.
