The divorce filing by Kristi Noem’s husband Bryon has only now come to light, though court documents citing “irreconcilable differences” were submitted on April 6. However, it wasn’t until Monday, September 28, that the filing became visible in the online database of Hamlin County Court in South Dakota. Just days earlier, the Daily Mail had broken a major scandal, claiming that Bryon had been engaging online with transgender models on adult content platforms. As things stand, a 34-year marriage appears to be coming to an end — the couple wed in 1992. As for their children, both daughters and their son are now adults. The British tabloid had documented Bryon Noem’s activities in considerable detail.

Kristi Noem: Oversized fake breasts
According to the Daily Mail, Bryon Noem allegedly chatted online with adult content models and may also have participated in crossdressing communities. Photos published by the tabloid show him wearing oversized fake breasts, pink shorts, and pink lipstick. This is known as “bimbofication” — a BDSM-adjacent trend centered around an exaggerated, hypersexualized aesthetic. The report also revealed that he had sent at least $25,000 via PayPal and Cash App to online content creators.
What ultimately gave him away was a phone call with one of the women he had been in contact with. She reportedly called him by accident and heard a voicemail message referencing Noem Insurance, a company he owns in South Dakota — which is how she identified him. The newspaper also reported that Bryon Noem used the alias “Jason Jackson” in at least one of his online interactions, with payments to a specific account typically ranging between $500 and $1,000. A spokesperson for the former Trump administration’s Secretary of Homeland Security said at the time that she was “devastated” and that the family had been “blindsided” by the revelations. Bryon Noem himself, when asked by a local South Dakota outlet about the divorce proceedings, responded: “I can’t comment at this time.”

A costly chapter
Kristi Noem had already been forced to vehemently deny reports suggesting a romantic relationship with Corey Lewandowski, her longtime political adviser. It’s possible that fallout from those allegations had already strained her marriage. Despite repeated denials, the story never fully faded from public view. Whether their August sighting — photographed dining together in Minnesota and reportedly spotted cycling near Lake Minnetonka — marked the beginning or continuation of a romance remains an open question.
A source cited by the Daily Mail claimed the two were “closer than ever,” something both parties have denied. Noem is no longer working with Lewandowski, as she had already departed ahead of the scandal surrounding her removal from her role as Secretary of Homeland Security. She did not leave government entirely, however, having taken up a position at the State Department as Special Envoy for the Shield of the Americas initiative.
Her mother, Corrine Arnold, told the Daily Mail that her daughter informed the family at a birthday gathering that she had decided to end the marriage and had already retained a lawyer in Sioux Falls. “It was difficult, but we knew it was coming — that they would get a divorce,” she was quoted as saying.
