The United States is in shock following the revelation of a horrific crime in California, where an 8-year-old boy was found dead inside a freezer filled with ice. Behind the horrifying murder of little Isaiah are, according to authorities, his own parents and grandmother, who have all been arrested.
Police were called to the family’s apartment following an anonymous phone call. There they discovered the child’s lifeless body in a freezer with ice, in scenes described as “unthinkable” even for experienced officers.
California: Parents and grandmother charged with horrific torture
The three defendants – mother, father and grandmother – face serious charges of murder, torture and child abuse. The Los Angeles County prosecutor stated:
“The horrific abuse he suffered is made even worse by the fact that it was at the hands of the people who should have loved and protected him.”
According to the prosecution, the boy was systematically abused for an extended period and succumbed to his injuries on October 24. His body was discovered a few days later, inside the freezer, as confirmed by police data and the Daily Mail.
The California horror shocks the neighborhood
At the time the child was discovered, three other children aged 16, 13 and 9 months were also in the apartment, who have been placed under the protection of social services.
Neighbors told local media they had not noticed anything strange about the family. One of them said:
“She was always out here with her dog, smiling, saying ‘hi’. Nothing unusual.”
Bail for each defendant was set at $2 million, while if found guilty, they face sentences of up to life imprisonment.
