The person responsible for the club in Gazi which was sealed by the Municipality of Athens following the death of a 16-year-old girl, is an elderly man who has no assets to his name, not even one euro in property, and appears to be homeless, with police reportedly finding him sleeping on a bench in the area, according to revelations by radio station “Parapolitika 90.1” and the show “Apenanti Mikrofona” with Vassilis Skouris and Sotiris Xenakis.
Additionally, apart from this specific club, the same person appears to be the health and safety officer for a total of 21 sole proprietorships, approximately 6 of which are also located in Gazi. According to “Parapolitika 90.1,” the actual owner of the club is an Albanian citizen who frequently travels in and out of the country. However, what raises suspicion about this case, according to the same source, is how a man who is responsible for an establishment but is simultaneously destitute has managed to hire a famous and expensive lawyer like Michalis Dimitrakopoulos.
Gazi club sealed by authorities
It should be noted that by decision of the Mayor of Athens, Harris Doukas, the bar in Gazi outside of which the 16-year-old collapsed and subsequently died was sealed for a period of up to 60 days. The Mayor emphasized that the Municipality’s response was immediate, noting that protecting young people is a top priority. “The establishment was sealed in record time. The safety and health of young people is our priority. That’s why we proceeded with very fast procedures to seal the establishment in question, for the maximum period allowed by law. I hope that all competent authorities, understanding the seriousness of the problem, will act accordingly,” stated Harris Doukas. According to the Municipality of Athens, the Municipal Police served the sealing order at 8 PM and proceeded with all procedures required by law. The sealing will last up to 60 days, while the Municipality appears determined to continue with strict inspections to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
