The death of a 16-year-old student who collapsed outside a bar in Gazi is developing into a thriller, resulting in the loss of her life. The Hellenic Police clarifies, through spokesperson Dimoglidou, that the girl’s death is not connected to alcohol or any other substance. However, many unclear points are emerging around the case that make not only the drama experienced by the girl’s parents even more difficult, but also the attempt to clarify the causes that led to the young woman’s death.
Gazi: Death not linked to alcohol consumption
Currently there is no connection between alcohol consumption or any substance with the death of the 16-year-old in Gazi, says Hellenic Police spokesperson Konstantia Dimoglidou, noting that the Immediate Action unit was not informed about the incident in the early hours of Sunday.
However, Ms. Dimoglidou clarified that if a call was made to a police station, there was no recording “and we cannot confirm it, only through the testimony of the police officers who confirm that no one has contacted them.” For its part, the 1st Health Region had earlier issued an announcement stating that on the fatal night, the shift nurse made a call to the Syntagma Police Station.
“Initial information has been given to the police about what ultimately caused this girl to pass away. Currently there is no connection between alcohol consumption or any substance with her death. We must wait for the results of toxicological examinations to see if they caused the girl’s death,” Ms. Dimoglidou told MEGA.
The spokesperson noted that police have confirmed that the 16-year-old consumed alcohol at the establishment: “this is important to say because many things were said, obviously we have confirmed that the child entered the establishment with company and consumed alcohol, it appears from the preliminary investigation evidence, without however there being evidence connecting alcohol consumption with the death.”
“We must also wait for the results of samples that police officers took from the search of the establishment. Because if we have adulterated alcohol, it is aggravating for the establishment owner,” she stated.
Gazi: Dimoglidou on communication with police
Regarding whether communication was made with police in the early hours of Sunday after the child’s death, Ms. Dimoglidou says: “if indeed the communication attempt or any communication was made with the landline of a police station, you understand that there is no recording there and we cannot confirm it, only through the testimony of the police officers who confirm that no one from the hospital has contacted them. Certainly no call was made to the Immediate Action center (100), where it would have certainly been recorded and we would have certainly had notification.”
“We should note that even if communication had been made from the moment the incident occurred, it would not have changed anything for the child’s condition. Because we were indeed informed that the doctors made superhuman efforts, they could not keep the child alive. Essentially this concerns purely the internal handling by the police. The matter of the preliminary investigation,” she concluded.
