Pain and sorrow dominated the funeral of the 16-year-old who lost her life in Gazi, after she collapsed outside a nightclub where she was partying with friends. On Wednesday, October 23 at 2 PM, relatives and friends gathered to say their final goodbye to the teenage girl (originally from Gortynia) at the Holy Church of Resurrection in the 3rd Cemetery of Athens, in Nikaia.
“First time I saw a bride in a coffin”
“I went to the funeral yesterday. First time I saw a bride in a coffin. They weren’t handing out memorial sweets, they were handing out wedding favors, as if it were a wedding. With clarinets and music,” said a neighbor of the girl’s family. The man, speaking on the show “Truths with Zina,” described the 16-year-old as a child with dreams, while defending the parents against those who blamed them for their daughter’s death.
“They’ve said things about the parents – why was the child out at that hour and what was her mother doing. Do they know the parents? All these children who are out there are our children. Unfortunately, it’s the trend of our times,” he said characteristically.
“It’s a well-structured family, the parents work from morning to night, like everyone else. She was cheerful, polite, she had dreams,” he added.
