A pensioner in Thessaloniki found himself in an unexpected ordeal when his decision to cut a small rosemary sprig led him to a detention cell.

Thessaloniki: Hospital did not wish to pursue charges and he was released
The man, who was visiting a city hospital, was arrested following a complaint by a security employee who saw him cutting the small branch from a flower bed on the premises and accused him of theft of public property. According to ERT, the 62-year-old remained at the police station for over seven hours, where he was detained, photographed, and fingerprinted before being released following a prosecutor’s order.
The case file will be forwarded to the courts at a later date. However, according to the same sources, the hospital later informed police that it did not wish to continue prosecution against the pensioner.
