Following the outcry from millions of Americans last June with the slogan “No Kings,” the call from the organization of the same name has succeeded, and thousands of Americans, estimated to be growing in number, have filled the streets of their neighborhoods denouncing Donald Trump for authoritarianism and abuse of power. Saturday afternoon, October 18th, found the streets of New York’s Forest Hills area packed with protesters. Thousands of people gathered from midday shouting “we love our country, we don’t tolerate Trump.”

“This president is a disgrace and I hope millions of people will take to the streets today,” said 36-year-old protester Stephanie, who preferred not to reveal her last name. Even more events were expected, as according to the program there would be 2,700 in total. Among these, demonstrations in Florida near Trump’s resort at Mar-a-Lago, where he is currently located.

“No Kings”: “You’ll see Hamas and Antifa supporters”
Republican Party officials, however, denounce “hate mobilization against America,” while the House Speaker stated: “I bet you’ll see Hamas and Antifa supporters.” Minnesota Representative Tom Emmer spoke of the “terrorist wing of the Democratic Party.”
“Don’t let Donald Trump and the Republicans intimidate and silence you,” responded Democratic Senate Leader Chuck Schumer, calling on Americans “to make their voices heard” in a message on X. Similar calls were made by defeated Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris and Hollywood star Robert De Niro.
