Greek Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis commented on today’s historic event of the release of the last twenty hostages held by Hamas, revealing the story behind a photograph of Israeli hostages displayed in his office. It should be noted that the Israeli hostages were freed today as part of a peace agreement championed by US President Donald Trump.

Adonis Georgiadis: “In my office I have a frame with the names of all the hostages”

The Health Minister, speaking about the Israel-Hamas ceasefire on Parapolitika 90.1, said: “Today is a historic day, the return of hostages to Israel from the terrorist attack of October 7, 2023, is a joyful event not only for Israel but for humanity. In my office at the Health Ministry, I have had for almost two years now a frame that my counterpart, Israel’s Health Minister, gave me as a gift with the names of all the hostages, and I had said that I would remove it from my office when the last hostage, alive or dead, returns to Israel. I’m waiting for the relevant process to be completed so I can do what I said.”

Later, Mr. Georgiadis posted about the story of the frame, emphasizing that today is the great day of joy for the return of Israeli hostages. Specifically, he wrote: “When I visited Jerusalem in April 2024, my counterpart Health Minister of @IsraelinGreece @Israel @Urielbusso gave me this frame as a gift, with the Hamas hostages in Gaza, from the terrorist attack of October 7th. I promised it would grace my office until they all return, alive or dead, to their families. Today is therefore the great day of joy of their return. Thanks to the plan of US President @realDonaldTrump and Israeli Prime Minister @netanyahu, the hostages are returning, Hamas has been defeated, and Israel breathes again with relief. Peace is coming to this long-suffering region and we all pray that it will last and that the peoples there will finally live better days. We stand with Israel!”
