Alarm bells rang at Domokos Prison and health services when an inmate was found to have an active tuberculosis infection following medical examinations. The case involves a Pakistani inmate who had been transferred from Korydallos Prison. It should be noted that since September 26, he has been hospitalized in a special isolation cell at Lamia Hospital. His health condition is considered good. However, he will remain hospitalized for at least 15 days, where he will receive antibiotic treatment to combat the tuberculosis mycobacterium.

6 more individuals test positive for tuberculosis mycobacterium
Following this tuberculosis case, a medical team from Lamia Hospital conducted Mantoux tests on inmates who were housed in the same wing as their Pakistani fellow prisoner. The results identified 19 more individuals carrying the tuberculosis mycobacterium. However, this does not necessarily mean they are ill with the disease. According to LamiaReport sources, the 19 inmates underwent X-rays at the Domokos Health Center to determine if the disease is active. They were subsequently examined at Lamia Hospital. Of these, 6 were deemed to require re-evaluation with additional tests and CT scans starting Thursday, October 9. It is emphasized that none of them have symptoms or feel sick, but only have a positive Mantoux skin reaction. It should be noted that within the next 24 hours, it will be determined whether the disease is active and contagious.
