The United States Senate is proceeding with the simultaneous confirmation of dozens of Trump administration appointments, including Kimberly Guilfoyle as the new US ambassador to Athens. The confirmation comes after rule modifications that allow candidates to be approved in groups rather than through separate votes for each individual.
Kimberly Guilfoyle’s appointment as new US ambassador to Athens confirmed by Senate
Republicans on Wednesday (17/9) managed to overcome the main procedural hurdle, and the final vote is now scheduled for today, Thursday. As previously mentioned, according to American media outlets, among the 48 appointments expected to be approved is the placement of Kimberly Guilfoyle as the new ambassador of the US to Athens.
According to the US Senate announcement, along with Guilfoyle, the “package” includes other ambassadors, such as Callista Gingrich for Switzerland and Liechtenstein, as well as a series of senior officials for federal agencies.
As Republicans argue, the rule change was necessary, accusing Democrats of deliberate delays, while the opposition accuses President Trump of “undermining” parliamentary procedures.
