Keratea fire: How the blaze started, the video evidence being examined
According to information broadcast by SKAI, video evidence has captured the point where the fire broke out, showing an electrical pole with a severed cable. The material is already being examined by the relevant services, as it reportedly shows the beginning of the fire at that exact location. The suspicious spot is located approximately 500 meters from the brick house where an elderly man was found dead, having been trapped by the flames.

Prosecutorial and fire service authorities have already initiated procedures to analyze the video, in order to determine if this was a problematic point in the network that led to sparks or ignition. If confirmed, it would be a crucial indication linking the fire’s outbreak to electrical failure. The investigations are also focusing on matching the video’s timeline with the first fire reports, as well as cross-referencing with testimonies from local residents.

It should be noted that, according to SKAI, the firefighters were operating in a difficult terrain area, just below a house that had been “consumed” by flames. When the volunteers realized that the flames had spread to the house, they returned with the fire truck to extinguish it.
Specifically, the volunteer firefighter stated: “We’re trying to do the best we can. Conditions are adverse. The flames are enormous, there’s a lot of wind…” “We got trapped. Fortunately, everything’s okay. It’s very difficult,” he replied to a related question from the journalist, quickly returning to the titanic battle.
Hell of fire in Keratea
Keratea is experiencing a fiery nightmare as the catastrophic wildfire continues in full development, burning from two different sources with firefighting forces waging a titanic battle against the flames to protect people and property. Specifically, SKAI’s camera captured the moment when a residence surrendered to the flames that are currently impossible to tame due to extremely adverse weather conditions in the area, with gale-force winds.
It’s worth noting that the fire service reports winds up to 8 Beaufort scale and the situation is expected to worsen in the evening. The property owner remains at the scene, having previously made a last-ditch effort with hoses and a basin of water to save his livelihood, without success.
As he explains, he was inside the house when the fire broke out and nearly burned twice after becoming trapped. Moreover, he was in danger for a third time while attempting to rescue a dog that was moving in the area. Fire service sources told SKAI that there is a large perimeter of 4-5 kilometers, the fire is developing within the interior of this perimeter and is not extending beyond it, but within it there are many settlements, such as Charvalo, Drosia, Manoutso, Synterina, Ari, Agiasma, Maliasteka, Dimolaki.
