The 32-year-old mother from Algeria was transferred to Korydallos prison this afternoon, following the decision for her pre-trial detention after the discovery of the dead girl on Eden beach in Paleo Faliro, in the early hours of Sunday 27/7. According to reporting by the “Summer Date” show on OREN, the woman is not eating, drinks minimal water and constantly asks about her other two children, requesting to be near them.
The 32-year-old was taken yesterday to the prosecutor’s office, charged with premeditated murder in a calm mental state and continuing abuse of her three-year-old daughter. The little girl had been found dead on Eden beach in Paleo Faliro by a passerby in the early hours of Sunday 27/7. It should be noted that the 32-year-old’s other two children, by order of the juvenile prosecutor, have been transferred to the Children’s Hospital, where they will remain for some time. However, where the children will ultimately end up is something that will be decided by the Juvenile Prosecutor’s Office.
Paleo Faliro: “The child was dead when I left it on the beach” says the 32-year-old mother
The 32-year-old mother of three categorically denies the murder of 3-year-old Gina. In her defense, she insisted that the child was injured in the bathroom at home and was already dead when she abandoned it on the beach. She claimed she was afraid she would lose custody of her other two children if she took the little girl to the hospital. However, many questions remain unanswered, such as why she threw away the clothes she was wearing the night she left the child by the sea.
“Gina was not registered anywhere”
Revealing details are coming to light about the lives of the three children of the accused mother. As the 65-year-old man who supported the mother from Algeria revealed to Alpha, 3-year-old Gina was not registered anywhere. He said he saw the little girl injured nine days before she was found dead. He also claimed that he himself prevented the 32-year-old mother from taking the child to the hospital, because if the doctor saw the child he would call the police.
In 2023, the 32-year-old’s children stayed at the Children’s Hospital for a year under prosecutorial order, as their mother was in the hospital and there was no one to care for them. Security camera footage shows the woman with her two children and the little girl in a stroller shopping at a kiosk on the night she abandoned the three-year-old on the beach. The case of the three-year-old girl found dead on the beach, wearing her swimsuit, shocked Greece. Police after thorough investigation identified the person who had abandoned the little girl on the beach, who had not been sought by anyone for days. That person was her mother.
Paleo Faliro: “Sick and beaten” little Gina, 9 days before her death
The testimony of the man who supported the 32-year-old mother about the violent moments that prevailed in the house is shocking. Specifically, he described to Alpha how the mother was beaten by her partner, while she had to be hospitalized for a week. He then revealed that in 2023, by prosecutor’s order the children had stayed for a long period at the Children’s Hospital. “The lady was in the hospital, the man was down in Omonia and the children were playing (alone).” The mother eventually managed to get them back again. In fact, in many videos she herself recorded happy family moments.
It should be noted that the 3-year-old, just nine days before her tragic end, had been found beaten again, according to the witness’s statements. He had seen a large mark on her face with the 32-year-old mother again using a hat to hide the little girl’s injuries. The child was “beaten I saw it. She put a little hat on, hid it. The eye was swollen, purple. The children tell me, mama…”.
However, he prevented the mother from taking the child to the hospital, because the doctors would call the police. So little Gina, beaten and sick, instead of going to the hospital, her mother “had prepared her to go swimming” as this person described.
