The SYRIZA party issued a statement on Tuesday afternoon (5/8) regarding the recent resignation of Kalliopi Semertzidou. “Kalliopi Semertzidou resigned from her position as Coordinator of Community Resources and Women’s Entrepreneurship in the Agricultural Organizations Secretariat of New Democracy, following yesterday’s revelation by in.gr and journalist Dimitris Terzis about the amounts she and her family received from OPEKEPE,” Koumoundourou initially stated.
“Every day brings another news story – revelation – scandal – resignation. Mr. Mitsotakis, you bear personal and political responsibility for this mess. The fish rots from the head,” SYRIZA noted subsequently.
“Moreover, just a few days ago, New Democracy, through a parliamentary maneuver, rejected the preliminary investigation committee for potential crimes by two of its ministers. Preliminary investigation and elections, Mr. Mitsotakis, so the country can be cleansed of your corruption, graft and cronyism,” the same statement emphasized.
