Police authorities have arrested a 61-year-old woman, reported to be the aunt of tennis star Stefanos Tsitsipas, following a dog attack on three citizens on Thursday morning (17/09) in Vari, Athens. A 62-year-old woman, believed to be the tennis player’s mother, is also being sought under flagrante delicto proceedings.

The Tsitsipas family dog attack incident
According to reports, the two dogs escaped from a residence in Vari and roamed the surrounding area, where a series of attacks took place. Sources indicate that one dog is registered in the name of Tsitsipas’s mother and the other in the name of his aunt.
The first attack occurred at the intersection of Ypatis 25 and Pisteos streets, where a 76-year-old man was bitten and injured on his left arm. The victim was initially transported by private vehicle to the Vari Health Centre and subsequently transferred to a private clinic in Faliro. The man had called a 69-year-old female relative for assistance. Shortly afterwards, at the intersection of Ypatis and Agapis 19 streets, the same woman was also attacked by one of the dogs and sustained injuries to her left arm.
A third victim was reported in the same area. A 57-year-old woman suffered injuries to her hand and thigh and was transferred to the KAT Hospital, where she reportedly required stitches.
Stefanos Tsitsipas: aunt arrested in connection with the attack
A woman believed to be Stefanos Tsitsipas’s aunt has been arrested in connection with the incident, while a second woman, reported to be the tennis star’s mother, is still being sought under flagrante delicto proceedings.
The arrested woman has been charged with multiple counts of negligent bodily harm, while authorities continue to investigate the exact circumstances under which the two dogs escaped from the property and attacked the three victims.
