Family, friends, colleagues, and devoted fans of Lakis Halkias gathered today, Thursday, August 6, to say their final goodbye to the beloved Greek singer. The body of the celebrated performer has been laid in state at the Athens First Cemetery, allowing the public to pay their respects before the funeral service.

His wife, Aleka Halkia, arrived at the cemetery early in the morning to bid farewell to the man she shared her life with. Her grief was visibly overwhelming as she approached the coffin of the late singer. Friends and representatives from the Greek artistic community stood by the family’s side, honoring a creative force who left an enduring legacy in laïká, traditional, and political song.

The funeral service is scheduled for 12:00 noon at the Church of Agioi Theodoroi, located within the Athens First Cemetery. The funeral of Lakis Halkias is being held at public expense, with the body available for public viewing from 10:00 a.m. in the cemetery hall. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that those wishing to honor his memory make a donation to ELEPAP — the Greek Society for the Protection and Rehabilitation of Disabled Persons.
