Talks with Iran are continuing normally, Donald Trump insisted, while simultaneously sending a stern warning to Tehran that the current effort represents the last opportunity to reach an agreement. The U.S. president, speaking Monday from the Oval Office — where he signed an executive order and fielded questions from reporters — stated that contacts with the Iranian side are ongoing. He added that “for some reason, when they talk, they don’t like to say that they’re talking.”
Trump clarified that the United States is participating in the talks “at Iran’s request, with the support of Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, and others.” In any case, he warned, “this is their last chance to sign a good deal.”

He went on to explain that the talks “will end quickly one way or another,” adding that they are “not very complicated.” We are discussing, Trump said, “opening the Strait of Hormuz completely. Then we’ll talk about Iran’s nuclear capabilities.” As for the question of “tolls,” Trump once again dismissed the prospect of them being imposed — at least by Iran. “If anyone is going to charge, it’s us — we have full control,” he said, contradicting what he had suggested just moments earlier.
