Member of Parliament for Trikala Kostas Tsiaras issued a statement following the archiving of the case file that concerned him in connection with the OPEKEPE affair. As Kostas Tsiaras notes, “throughout the entire public debate surrounding the OPEKEPE case, in which attempts were made to implicate my name, I chose to maintain an entirely institutional stance, avoiding public confrontations and respectfully awaiting the judgment of Justice. The decision by the European Public Prosecutor’s Office to archive the relevant case file — having found no unlawful or reprehensible conduct on my part — is a development that restores the truth with regard to my person.”
“At the same time, however, it highlights the need for matters concerning individuals, institutions, and public affairs to be addressed with responsibility, composure, and respect for due legal process. I feel the need to express my warmest thanks to my lawyer, Michalis Dimitrakopoulos, for his substantial contribution to clarifying the case and fully restoring the facts,” he further noted.
“As a Member of Parliament, I will continue — together with my office colleagues — to consistently serve my institutional role: to stand by citizens, to champion their legitimate demands, always with absolute respect for legality, transparency, and democratic institutions,” Mr. Tsiaras concluded.
