From Brussels, where he is attending the Socialists and Democrats summit, Nikos Androulakis called on Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis to push for a similar reference to Turkey to be included in the conclusions of the European Council, mirroring the resolution passed by the European Parliament two days ago.

Androulakis: The prime minister must secure a similar condemnation of Turkey at the European Council
“The passage of a law in the Turkish National Assembly codifying the illegal ‘Blue Homeland’ doctrine is a direct assault on our sovereign rights and on international law. That is why, yesterday, the European Parliament condemned Turkey for these actions, on the initiative of PASOK and the European Socialists and Democrats,” Androulakis stated, adding: “Instead of the government celebrating what is admittedly a national success, it would be far better for the prime minister to ensure that a similar decision is included in the conclusions of the European Council he is currently attending.” The PASOK leader stressed that European solidarity must not be à la carte, while on the subject of the EU budget, he stated that “the goal must be to reduce social and regional inequalities. That is why there must be no cuts to the Cohesion Funds or the Common Agricultural Policy.”
