Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis highlighted the PosoKanei platform in a social media post today (18/06), offering a brief overview of how the Ministry of Development’s new tool works. Mitsotakis emphasized that “before you pay at the supermarket, you can now know where your basket is cheaper,” describing it as “the new digital platform by the Ministry of Development and the Independent Consumer Protection Authority that compares prices across more than 8,000 products.”

“Let me say something important here: prices are updated on a daily basis. Let’s be clear: PosoKanei obviously doesn’t solve the problem of high prices on its own. However, it is another weapon for consumers in the fight against the cost of living. Most importantly, the market itself now knows that prices are being compared every day and with full transparency. As a result, the market is being pressured to become more competitive,” Mitsotakis wrote in his post.
How Kyriakos Mitsotakis presented PosoKanei
In detail, Mitsotakis stated the following:
“Before you pay at the supermarket, you can now know where your basket is cheaper. That is PosoKanei. It’s the new digital platform by the Ministry of Development and the Independent Consumer Protection Authority that compares prices across more than 8,000 products. You visit posokanei.gov.gr or download the PosoKanei app on your phone — as I have done — find the product you’re interested in at the supermarket, scan its barcode, and see where it’s sold at a lower price. You can also compare prices across products in the same category. Let me say something important here: prices are updated on a daily basis. Let’s be clear: PosoKanei obviously doesn’t solve the problem of high prices on its own. However, it is another weapon for consumers in the fight against the cost of living. Most importantly, the market itself now knows that prices are being compared every day and with full transparency. As a result, the market is being pressured to become more competitive.”
