A “changing of the guard” took place at the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, with Georgios Kotsiras taking over the portfolio of deputy minister, replacing Konstantinos Kyranakis. Mr. Kotsiras, who until recently served as undersecretary of Finance, was sworn in as deputy minister of Transport and Infrastructure earlier today (12/06).

Georgios Kotsiras: New position after cabinet reshuffle
He assumed his duties as part of the government reshuffle on Monday (8/6), with Mr. Kyranakis being elected as the new Secretary of New Democracy. Konstantinos Kyranakis reiterated his commitment to delivering the upgraded railway network, and when his work was mentioned, he could not hide his emotion.

Georgios Kotsiras biography
Georgios Kotsiras was born in 1984. In March 2025, by decision of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, he was appointed undersecretary of National Economy and Finance. Since July 2019, he has been elected as MP for Western Attica with New Democracy, and from January 2021 to May 2023, he served as undersecretary of Justice, responsible for International Cooperation and Human Rights Issues. From June 2023 to March 2025, he served as undersecretary of Foreign Affairs.
During 2019-2021, he was a member of the Standing Committee on Public Administration, Public Order and Justice, the Special Standing Committee on Equality, Youth and Human Rights, the Subcommittee on disability issues, and the Constitutional Review Committee (2019 Constitutional Review), Vice-President of the Greece-France Parliamentary Friendship Group and Member of the Greece-Serbia Parliamentary Friendship Group.
He is a distinguished graduate and Doctor of the Law School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, specializing in European Law, Competition, State Aid, Corporate Law and Administrative Law. He holds two master’s degrees, in European Law from the Athens Law School and in Administrative Law and Local Government from the University of Aix-Marseille III “Paul Cézanne” in France.
