“As long as I am Prime Minister of Israel, Iran will not acquire nuclear weapons,” declared Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu today (June 12), amid reports of a potential agreement with the United States. In his statement, Netanyahu said, “For more than 30 years I have been on the front lines of the international struggle against Iran’s nuclear program,” and continued by stating that he and American President Trump “agree completely.”
Netanyahu: “On the front lines of the international struggle against Iran’s nuclear program”
“For more than 30 years I have been on the front lines of the international struggle against Iran’s nuclear program. If this struggle had not existed, Iran would have long ago possessed atomic bombs to destroy Israel. Iran is working to destroy the Jewish state and I have dedicated my life to preventing such a thing. As long as I am Prime Minister of Israel, this will not happen,” the Israeli Prime Minister concluded.
Bloomberg: Agreement before G7 Summit
It should be noted that according to reports, the US and Iran appear to be moving closer to a potential agreement (in the form of a memorandum of understanding) that could extend the ceasefire and possibly lead to a permanent peace agreement. The focus is naturally on the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and de-escalation of the Middle East crisis, with information suggesting signatures could happen immediately, before the G7 Summit.
Meanwhile, according to reports from several Iranian media outlets, there is a 14-point plan, which would certainly be difficult for the US to accept, but even regarding this, the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman states that these are merely media speculations, according to Al Jazeera reports. The same sources indicate that 60 days of negotiations are planned to achieve a final agreement based on nuclear issues and the complete lifting of primary, secondary, American sanctions and UN Security Council resolutions and International Atomic Energy Agency Board of Governors resolutions.
