A boat carrying 38 migrants was spotted in the sea area 22 nautical miles southwest of Gavdos island, during a search and rescue operation.
The detection was made by a Frontex aircraft, while subsequently a Coast Guard vessel, coordinated by the Unified Search and Rescue Coordination Center (EKSED), approached the area and proceeded with the safe rescue of the passengers.
The 38 rescued individuals are being transported to the port of Paleochora in Chania, where the required procedures will be carried out by the competent authorities.
