A shocking incident unfolded on a street in Porto, Portugal when, after an intense argument, a cyclist violently attacked a 37-year-old female driver. The violent scenes took place on Monday afternoon (May 25) in the Padrão da Légua area of Matosinhos, while the savage assault on the woman was captured frame by frame in a video that circulated on social media, shocking internet users with the cyclist’s brutality as he beat the 37-year-old woman. Police authorities have launched investigations to locate the perpetrator, as he fled the scene after the incident.

Violent scenes in Portugal: Cyclist beats woman in middle of street
The incident occurred on Monday afternoon, May 25, in the Padrão da Légua area. The published video shows the cyclist violently grabbing the woman by the neck on a busy street and pushing her to the ground.
Subsequently, the man appears to pull her hair while she lies on the asphalt, then repeatedly punches her in the head. The woman is unable to react, while several passersby attempt to intervene to stop the attack. Among the eyewitnesses was an elderly woman who, together with other citizens, tried to remove the perpetrator from the victim. Their intervention appears to have contributed to ending the assault.

According to the 37-year-old’s statement to authorities, the cyclist had previously struck her parked vehicle three times. She got out of the car to demand an explanation, however the verbal confrontation quickly escalated into a violent episode.
Perpetrator remains at large
When police had almost reached the scene, the perpetrator had already fled. Authorities estimate he left the area immediately after the attack and has been sought ever since. Firefighters from Lesa do Balío provided first aid to the woman at the scene. The 37-year-old sustained minor injuries and was taken to hospital as a precaution for further examination.
The woman filed an official complaint with the Portuguese Public Security Police, which is examining video footage and citizen testimonies to identify the perpetrator. The attack video spread rapidly on social media, causing intense reactions and calls for the cyclist’s location and arrest.
