Thanos Plevris has ordered an examination into revoking legal status for foreigners accused of criminal acts. According to sources from the Ministry of Migration and Asylum, services have been called upon to examine the revocation of legal status for the 27-year-old man of Egyptian origin who is accused of making indecent gestures toward four minors in Symi, as well as for the delivery driver of Pakistani origin who threw stones and injured passersby in Kifisia.
As sources emphasize, this is a standard practice of the ministry, according to which whenever a foreigner is involved in criminal acts considered a threat to public order, the revocation of legal status is requested. The procedure concerns either residence permits or international protection status (asylum), depending on the case and according to what the legislation provides.
