The US and Donald Trump’s options are limited to either a “weak” military operation in the Middle East or a “bad deal” with the Islamic Republic, Iran’s Revolutionary Guards declared on Sunday (05/03). The message from Iran’s ideological army was broadcast on the country’s state television.
Revolutionary Guards: Trump must choose between ‘a weak operation or a bad deal’
Specifically, in their announcement, the Revolutionary Guards stated that “Trump must choose between ‘a weak operation or a bad deal'”, citing a “change of tone” from China, Russia and Europe toward Washington, as well as an Iranian “ultimatum” regarding the American blockade of Iranian ports.
Tehran’s 14-point plan
It should be noted that, according to Iranian news agencies, Tehran conveyed to Washington through Pakistan a plan to end the war within 30 days. According to Tasnim, Iran demands in this plan that American forces withdraw from sectors near its territory, that the blockade of Iranian ports be lifted, that frozen Iranian assets be released, that reparations be paid, that sanctions be lifted, that there be a “mechanism” for the Strait of Hormuz and that “the end of war on all fronts, including Lebanon” be declared.
The agency did not refer to the file of Tehran’s nuclear energy program. However, this is a central issue for the US and Israel, which accuse Iran of seeking to acquire nuclear weapons – something Iranian leadership has denied for decades. Iranian diplomacy had already conveyed a new text to Pakistan earlier this week, without any details being leaked.
Donald Trump stated on Friday that the proposal does not “satisfy” him. And while he had already threatened to destroy Iran’s “civilization”, he added that although he would prefer not to “pulverize once and for all” the Islamic Republic, resuming war continues to be “an option”. “The resumption of conflict between Iran and the US is possible and events have shown that the US does not keep any promise or agreement”, commented yesterday Mohammad Jafar Asadi, an official of the Khatam al-Anbiya administration of Iranian armed forces, according to the FARS news agency.
