The mother of a 10-month-old baby and her partner have been ordered to remain in custody after appearing before the investigating magistrate in Elis, following criminal charges filed at felony level by the Public Prosecutor of Elis, according to information from patrisnews.

Both defendants were ordered to remain in temporary custody following their testimonies, by decision of the investigating magistrate and with the agreement of the prosecuting official. The prosecutor handling this specific case brought charges against both the mother and her partner for serious intentional bodily harm against a vulnerable person, as the marks on the baby were numerous and clearly visible, while the infant continues to be hospitalized in critical condition.
According to the same sources, the man appears to be the abuser, who allegedly bit and burned the baby girl with cigarettes, while the mother is accused of failing to take any action to prevent what was happening.
