A deadline to testify on April 27 was requested and granted to Eirini Mourtzoukou, who is already being held at Korydallos prison, according to patrisnews.com, with her lawyer emphasizing the need to study the case file and evidence that emerged from the forensic report, which indicates asphyxiation as the cause of death. It is recalled that the 25-year-old Eirini Mourtzoukou was brought before the Examining Magistrate of Amaliada today, now charged with the premeditated murder of little Panagiotakis.

Eirini Mourtzoukou denies the charges
The defendant’s defense strategy remains steadfast in denying guilt, with her maintaining that the child was her priority. Through her memorandum, Mourtzoukou points the finger at the infant’s mother and grandmother, claiming that the child died in his mother’s arms and that she was manipulated by the family environment to initially give false testimony to “cover up” the situation. Despite these claims of a “satanic plot” against her, judicial authorities proceeded with criminal prosecution, taking into account the scientific findings and testimony from the mother who identifies her as responsible.
It is noted that during her transfer from Korydallos prison to the Examining Magistrate’s office in Amaliada, the 25-year-old was accompanied by strong police forces, which had taken draconian security measures to avoid potential tensions.

Charged with premeditated murder
The three-member committee of forensic doctors from the Ministry of Justice ruled after re-examining her case that the death of little Panagiotakis was the result of asphyxiation, meaning criminal action, and was not due to pathological causes, as initially estimated. For this reason, Mourtzoukou is charged with premeditated murder.
