Today the trial for Tempi begins
It should be noted that today, Monday, the highly anticipated trial for the Tempi train tragedy began at the Three-Member Court of Appeals for Felonies in Larissa, three years after the accident of February 28, 2023. The start of the trial marks the effort to investigate responsibilities and deliver justice for the 57 victims, while the proceedings take place in a specially designed 600-square-meter courtroom at the GAIOPOLIS conference center of the University of Thessaly, under strict security measures.
From early in the morning, victims’ relatives, defendants, legal representatives and citizens gathered at the venue, in an atmosphere of intense emotion. The proceedings began at 9:00 AM, with 36 defendants in the dock. Meanwhile, strong police forces have been deployed outside the venue, while crowds of people continue to gather.
