All eyes are on Donald Trump, with discussion about his health condition heating up again after the 79-year-old American president appeared outside the White House with… visibly swollen ankles. Despite his own assurances that he enjoys excellent health, the image of Trump walking on the White House lawn on Monday evening (09/03) after yet another trip to Florida is making rounds on the internet. Wearing a blue suit, he waved to reporters, but all eyes fell on his feet – or more specifically what critics on X called a “completely swollen ankle.”

Concerns about Trump’s health
Some users even commented sarcastically: “His cankles have become famous. The hands, the neck rash, injection bruises, confused speech… He’s the healthiest president ever. His doctor should have his license revoked for that statement.”

As the oldest president in US history, Trump’s health is under increased scrutiny. In September, a White House source revealed that the president prefers to hold meetings in the Oval Office or large spaces so he “doesn’t need to stand for long periods.” During a meeting with European leaders, he reportedly chose to sit behind the iconic Resolute Desk in the White House Oval Office to hide his swollen ankles from cameras.
Trump was previously diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency, for which swollen feet are a common symptom. While he admitted to the Wall Street Journal that he wore special compression socks for a period, he said he “didn’t like them” and stopped using them.
The red mark on his neck
Notably, the swollen ankle comes after the red mark on Trump’s neck. Last week, a prominent red spot resembling a rash was observed, but the White House doctor explained it was some preventive skin treatment expected to last several weeks. Trump later wore makeup to cover the rash.
Despite the ongoing discussions, he continues to claim he is in very good health. However, each of his public appearances continues to be carefully scrutinized, as the physical condition of a US president remains a matter of particular public interest.
