The US attack on Iran was justified according to New Democracy MP Sofia Voultepsi, who, speaking on Parapolitika 90.1 radio show “Opposite Microphones” with journalists Sotiris Xenakis and Vasilis Skouris about developments in the Middle East, characteristically stated that “if the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) says Iran is preparing bombs, it must not acquire bombs by any means.”
Furthermore, referring to Mr. Koutsoubas’s allegation that drones from Iran were heading to Souda, Ms. Voultepsi said: “The most competent official, Mr. Dendias, has already answered this. Mr. Koutsoubas belongs to those who believe that if a bomb falls on Israel, just because we say ‘no war,’ the radiation won’t reach us.”
Excerpts from Sofia Voultepsi’s interview on Parapolitika 90.1 – What she said about Middle East developments
When asked if she believes the intervention in Iran was justified:
S.VOULTEPSI: I have a report from the International Atomic Energy Agency stating that Iran has buried (nuclear materials) in tunnels in Isfahan and will be able to build 10 bombs in a very short time. If the International Atomic Energy Agency says Iran is preparing bombs, it must not acquire bombs by any means.
JOURNALIST: So the Americans were right to attack Iran?
S.VOULTEPSI: Certainly.
Referring to Mr. Koutsoubas’s allegation that drones from Iran were heading to Souda:
S.VOULTEPSI: The most competent official, Mr. Dendias, has already answered this. Mr. Koutsoubas belongs to those who believe that if a bomb falls on Israel, just because we say “no war,” the radiation won’t reach us.
On the “lentil soup heroes”:
S.VOULTEPSI: I have said regarding both national issues and immigration that you can’t deal with the far-right – whatever you do, they will demand something more. What does Velopoulos say? You were right to go to Cyprus, but you should have done it earlier, possibly before the war declaration. Whatever you do, the far-right will tell you it’s not enough.
