Civil defense in the Gaza Strip announced on Sunday that Israeli bombardments killed at least 12 people in various areas of the enclave. For its part, the Israeli army stated it acted in response to a “flagrant violation” of the ceasefire agreement.

The developments occurred hours before US President Donald Trump’s intervention, demanding the “complete and immediate” disarmament of Hamas. It should be noted that Israel and Hamas continue to accuse each other of ceasefire violations, which took effect on October 10, following two years of particularly bloody clashes.
Civil defense, an emergency aid organization reporting to Hamas authorities, stated that bombardment struck a tent for displaced people in the area where Jabaliya is located (north), killing five people. According to the same sources, another strike also killed five people in Khan Younis (south). Two other people were killed in Gaza City and Beit Lahia (north).
Shifa Hospital in Gaza City and Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis confirmed they received seven bodies. “Israel doesn’t understand what ceasefire or truce means. A truce has been declared for months, but they’re bombing us, saying one thing and doing another,” Osama Abu Askar, whose nephew was killed yesterday, told AFP. According to him, four civilians were killed in the Jabaliya refugee camp “while sleeping outside, on the street.”
In Khan Younis, dozens of Palestinians gathered at Nasser Hospital to mourn their relatives, whose bodies were wrapped in white burial shrouds, according to footage captured by AFP cameramen.
Gaza: Israel claims it attacked after spotting “armed terrorists taking cover”
The Israeli military reported conducting strikes after spotting “armed terrorists taking cover” after “likely emerging from underground facilities” in Beit Hanoun (north). Speaking of a “flagrant violation” of the ceasefire agreement, it added that these men had crossed the so-called yellow line, which separates areas it still occupies from the rest of the enclave.

“Targeting displaced people in their tents is a serious violation of the ceasefire agreement,” Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem countered.
Although exchanges of fire continue to be recorded almost daily in the Gaza Strip, Washington announced in mid-February that the so-called second phase of US President Donald Trump’s plan is beginning, which is supposed to definitively end the war. It provides for the gradual withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip, Hamas disarmament – which the movement rejects – the deployment of an International Stabilization Force, and reconstruction. The Israeli military continues to occupy more than half the enclave.
Trump: “Complete and immediate demilitarization”
US President Donald Trump yesterday demanded the “complete and immediate” demilitarization of Hamas, as part of his plan’s second phase.
“It is very important that Hamas fulfill its commitment to proceed with complete and immediate demilitarization,” the Republican stated on Truth Social, further assuring that members of his “peace council” will announce on Thursday, February 19th in Washington, how they are allocating $5 billion for reconstruction of the enclave, which suffered enormous destruction in the war.
Gaza Strip: MSF suspends activities at hospital
The NGO Doctors Without Borders (Médecins sans frontières, MSF) announced it decided in late January to suspend non-essential activities at Nasser Hospital, one of the enclave’s largest, after patients and staff observed the presence of “armed, sometimes masked” individuals.
MSF told AFP yesterday it cannot identify who the armed individuals were, while Israel accused Hamas, once again, of using hospitals for military purposes.
“After too long, MSF has finally admitted what Israel has been saying all along: Hamas uses Nasser Hospital as a terrorist base,” stated COGAT, a Defense Ministry agency responsible for Palestinian civilian affairs.

Hamas rejects such accusations.
In total, 601 Palestinians have been killed since the ceasefire agreement was implemented in October, according to figures from the Hamas-run Health Ministry in Gaza, which are considered reliable by the UN. On the other side, the Israeli military says it has suffered four casualties. After more than four months of truce, the Gaza Strip remains mired in a major humanitarian crisis.
