A reference by the leader of Course of Freedom to Pavlos Bakoyannis, who was assassinated by November 17 terrorists, was enough to provoke an intense reaction from New Democracy’s parliamentary representative Makarios Lazaridis. Mr. Lazaridis argued that the Course of Freedom leader, while attempting to blame the government for issues related to the deaths of five women at the Violanta factory, equated the assassination of Pavlos Bakoyannis with the workplace accident, and he did not hesitate to condemn this specific reference.
Konstantopoulou’s reference to Pavlos Bakoyannis
It should be noted that earlier, Ms. Konstantopoulou, responding to Labor Minister Niki Kerameos regarding the conditions under which the five women lost their lives, emphasized that “elected MPs, relatives of victims, exist in your own faction. And upon a terrorism victim, Pavlos Bakoyannis, political careers have been built”.
Makarios Lazaridis then responded that “her party’s chair is creaking. Her own MP has left (referring to Elena Karageorgopoulou). In her frenzy to blame the government for issues related to the loss of these women, Ms. Konstantopoulou went so far as to equate the assassination of Pavlos Bakoyannis by despicable November 17 terrorists with the workplace accident. I condemn this”.
Ms. Konstantopoulou returned with new characterizations, this time directed at Makarios Lazaridis, saying it was “pathetic to use Lazaridis as a cushion. You should respond directly to what was said and not use the far-right remnant”.
