With the heat wave being felt across all regions of Greece, the Greek Red Cross, through its Climate Change Strategy initiative, proposes ten simple guidelines for protection from high temperatures, which can cause serious health problems, especially in high-risk groups such as elderly people and children.

10 Greek Red Cross guidelines for heat wave protection
- Stay in shaded areas
- Keep your home cool
- Stay hydrated
- Eat properly and adequately
- Stay in contact with family, friends and neighbors
- Dress lightly
- Avoid intense exercise and unnecessary travel
- Don’t consume alcohol
- Take care of your pets
- Never leave children or pets in cars without ventilation






The Greek Red Cross is organizing an emergency support and information campaign on Wednesday (09/07) from 09:00 to 12:00 outside the Acropolis ticket offices, providing assistance and information to visitors expected to visit the historic Acropolis monument.
A similar campaign will be carried out by the Greek Red Cross on Thursday (10/7) from 09:00 to 12:00 at the beginning of Ermou pedestrian street, where thousands of bottled water and heat wave response guidelines will be distributed to citizens.
At the same time, mobile teams of social workers and volunteers will conduct active outreach and support actions for homeless people (streetwork) living in central Athens.
