Athens is putting its revised Greek air defense strategy into action, as the transfer of a Patriot missile battery to Crete from Karpathos — where it had been stationed until now — began in the early morning hours of Sunday.
Specifically, the battery is being relocated to Souda Bay, and this move comes in the wake of a Financial Times report indicating that Iran is exploring options for attacks on American targets in Cyprus and Bulgaria.
The newspaper emphasizes that the existence of such plans does not mean a decision to attack has been made. According to the same sources, these are scenarios being developed as part of Tehran’s preparations for the possibility of a new large-scale American military operation against Iran.
