A serious incident of domestic violence occurred in Heraklion, Crete, as a 31-year-old woman reported to authorities that her husband and mother-in-law had locked her inside their home for three days. Specifically, according to information from patris.gr, the 31-year-old contacted police yesterday, initially stating that she had been a victim of abuse and was being held captive inside a house in a village near Heraklion. Police officers rushed to the scene and freed the woman, who stated that for the past three days she had been “imprisoned” in the house and was not allowed to go outside, while her husband and mother-in-law monitored her every move.

Additionally, she reported that in the past her husband had subjected her to verbal and physical violence. In one instance, he had even abandoned her with their car in a remote area and she was forced to walk home on foot.
Both the husband and mother-in-law were arrested by police, while charges have been filed against them for domestic violence and unlawful detention. The husband also faces weapons charges as hunting rifles and ammunition were found in his possession.
