“Mr. Androulakis is unfit. He is considered unfit by citizens, when polls on suitability for prime minister give him less than 10%,” stated former minister and New Democracy official Andreas Loverdos, speaking on Parapolitika 90.1 radio show “She and I,” with journalists Stella Gantona and Thanasis Fouskidis. “Yesterday’s Metron Analysis poll confirmed all previous ones, so we have roughly the same findings. From these findings we must understand that whoever wins the center in politics also wins the battle – this happens in football and it happens in politics. I say this because Mr. Mitsotakis and New Democracy may indeed have a dissatisfied public against them after seven years, which is expressed in polls, but right now they constitute the only governing party in Greece. The entire opposition, both main and minor, consists of parties that have no governing prospects,” he noted characteristically.
Andreas Loverdos: An opposition is being built that as time passes, has no awareness of what defeat means
When asked if he believes New Democracy will achieve an absolute majority in elections, Mr. Loverdos replied: “Since at this moment there is no opposition political party from any side of the system declaring governing prospects, it is absolutely certain that we in New Democracy will seek further strengthening of our forces and if necessary, even second elections, since there is no governing partner, and we will achieve an absolute majority.”
“An opposition is being built that as time passes, has no awareness of what defeat means. Sometimes some speak and you think they don’t understand what’s happening to them. They don’t understand that they’re at 12%, 3% or 4%, they speak as if they’re a party ready to assume government,” he added.
Then, when asked if he believes Mr. Androulakis is a good president, he replied: “He is unfit, when citizens in polls give him less than 10% on suitability for prime minister and sometimes less than 6%, he is considered unfit by citizens.”
Finally, regarding Maria Karystianou, Mr. Loverdos said: “From the first moment I said that Ms. Karystianou and her course will concern the opposition. Ms. Karystianou will mean further fragmentation of the opposition. What she says is outdated. She will not affect New Democracy’s electoral percentage, on the contrary she will affect parties to its right.”
