Mountainous regions across Greece dressed in “white” today, Sunday, with residents enjoying the beautiful winter scenery and ski resorts opening their doors for those wanting to ski and those looking to relax and have fun in the chalets. Specifically, snow made its appearance in the mountains of Fthiotida and many ski centers, with snow covering several areas completely.
According to information so far, no major problems have been detected on the road network. Snowfall occurred in the mountains of western Fthiotida, in Marmara, Pougkakia, Argyria, Kolokythia in Stagia (Platanos), while villages of Oiti also witnessed white landscapes, such as Koumaritsi, Pavliani and other surrounding villages.

The landscape also turned white on Mount Tymfristos, as well as in Gardiki and other mountainous areas towards the borders of Fthiotida and Evrytania such as Mavrilo and Merkada. Heavy snow also fell in Chania Piliou, Trikala Korinthias, Neraidochori Trikalon, Pertouli and in Central Greece.

New low pressure system brings more snow
Meteorologist Thodoris Kolydas warned that from Wednesday, a new low pressure system from the central Mediterranean will bring more snow. He also explains the reasons why the expected snowfall did not occur in recent days. Meteorologists maintain that the snowfall will continue and become more intense in various areas from tomorrow. From Wednesday, a new low pressure system will “hit” Greece, dressing more areas in white.
