OPEKA continues the payment of the child benefit A21 for 2026, following the biannual payment system implemented in recent years. The benefit amount is determined based on each family’s latest cleared tax return, while beneficiaries receive a total of six installments throughout the year.

When child benefit is paid in 2026
The payment schedule for the current year includes six bimonthly payments already scheduled by the Organization. The first payment covers January and February and will be credited to beneficiaries’ accounts on Tuesday, March 31, 2026. The second payment covering March and April is set for Friday, May 29, 2026. The third installment for May and June will be paid on Friday, July 31, 2026.
For the second semester, the fourth payment corresponding to July and August will be made on Wednesday, September 30, 2026. The fifth installment for September and October will be credited on Monday, November 30, 2026, while the year’s final payment for November and December is expected between December 19 and 24, 2026.
How much money families are entitled to
Child benefit amounts remain stable and vary according to the number of children and the income category each household belongs to. For the first and second child, Category A beneficiaries receive 70 euros monthly, Category B 42 euros, while Category C receives 28 euros. From the third child onwards, the amounts double. Specifically, families in income Category A are entitled to 140 euros monthly per child, Category B 84 euros, and Category C 56 euros.
Criteria for classification into income categories
Each family’s classification into income categories A, B, or C is based on the total household income declared to the tax office. The final amount each beneficiary receives results from the combination of income category and number of dependent children. Beneficiaries can stay informed about their application status and benefit amount through OPEKA’s electronic platform, using their Taxisnet access codes. Timely updates and data verification ensure smooth benefit payments on all scheduled dates.
