In the context of these meetings, those involved are shown presenting illegal ways of financing and circumventing international sanctions. The video, presented as a «leak», was reproduced by an X (formerly Twitter) account named «Emily Thompson», which presents itself as an «independent analyst». The authenticity of the material and the circumstances under which it came to public attention have provoked intense reactions and questions.

As reported by the newspaper «Politis» on today’s front page, «the video that burns Christodoulides and humiliates the state» has brought to the fore serious issues of integrity and transparency in government operations. According to the front page of «Politis», President Christodoulides rushed to react, stating that «anyone involved in illegal activities surely gets humiliated in their own mind when reading such proposals about money and influences». At the same time, he emphasized that «the Republic of Cyprus is not humiliated».
