Rapid developments are taking place in the Finikounda case, as police from Kalamata Security have arrested the nephew of Kostas Tomaras and the young man’s employer friend, following arrest warrants issued against them by the Kalamata investigator. Their arrest came almost a month after the double murder in Finikounda, which claimed the lives of the co-owner of the “Ammos” camping site and the business supervisor.
The victim’s nephew had claimed he was nearly a victim of the murderous attack and that he escaped at the last moment. The two men will likely be brought before the Kalamata investigator today. According to parapolitika.gr sources, three arrest warrants were issued – the nephew and the businessman from Athens have been arrested, while one person is still being sought.
It should be noted that two 22-year-olds had previously been arrested for the double murder in Finikounda, accused of killing the camping site owner and his supervisor on October 5.
Finikounda double murder: The testimonies
It’s worth noting that the arrested nephew of the 68-year-old camping site owner is directly involved as the sole eyewitness to the murder and has already testified five times. His partner, who was reportedly at the camping site during the incident but not present during the murders, testified for the second time on Monday, November 17. Regarding the businessman, the alleged employer of the 22-year-olds, he has been called to testify before the Kalamata investigator for the third time. Additionally, the businessman learned that police raided his two businesses in central Athens on November 17. The 32-year-old was in Thessaloniki, possibly for business obligations. He went to the local police station and surrendered his mobile phone.
The Finikounda double murder has opened a case file that is far from closed. The testimonies of the three individuals under police scrutiny hold significant value for the Homicide Department. “As soon as I heard the gunshots, I started running and shouted at the supervisor to do the same. He seemed confused. I shouted at him to run and he started running toward me,” the nephew of the 68-year-old who was killed in his camping site reception had testified. The nephew had emphasized that the only bullet that missed its target, after the three shots with which the perpetrator killed the supervisor, was the one aimed at him.
The nephew’s partner, who was reportedly at the camping site restaurant, said: “While I was talking to my mother on the phone, I heard some loud ‘bangs.’ I was sure they were gunshots and not fireworks. I hang up the phone and immediately see my partner entering the restaurant shouting ‘help, call 100.’ Then he collapsed in front of me and said ‘shots have been fired, they’re dead.’ The restaurant owner called the police because D. was not in a position to make the call.”
