The 2026 Oscar season kicked off dynamically with the announcement of the nominations for the Golden Globes, on Monday, December 8, 2025. The 83rd Awards Ceremony will take place on January 11, 2026, at The Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles, with comedian Nikki Glaser returning for her second consecutive year as host. The event will be broadcast live on CBS and will also be available on the Paramount+ streaming service, giving viewers the opportunity to watch all the big names and most talked-about productions of the year up close. This year promises many surprises, as Ellen Mirren will be honored with the Cecil B. DeMille Award in a special broadcast on January 8, while Sarah Jessica Parker will receive the Carol Burnett Award. The nominations were announced by actors Marlon Wayans and Sky P. Marshall, with all 28 categories including six nominations, except for the Cinematic and Box Office Achievement category, which has eight nominated films. Among the early announcements, nominations for Best Actor in a Television Drama Series stood out, where Sterling K. Brown, Diego Luna, Gary Oldman, Mark Ruffalo, Adam Scott, and Noah Wylie compete for the coveted award. In the Best Original Score in a Motion Picture category, nominees include Alexandre Desplat, Ludwig Göransson, Jonny Greenwood, Max Richter, and Hans Zimmer. Netflix’s hit “Adolescence” leads the nominations in the Best Limited Series, Anthology or Television Film category, with productions “All Her Fault,” “The Beast in Me,” “Black Mirror,” “Dying for Sex,” and “The Girlfriend” following. The series’ stars, Owen Cooper and Erin Doherty, also earned nominations for their performances, with 16-year-old Owen Cooper competing for Best Supporting Actor in a Television Series or Limited Series.
