Grok Imagine has released the first episode of the AI-generated version of the Odyssey backed by Elon Musk, who reshared the video on social media where it is presented as “Episode 1” of the series. The post from the Grok Imagine account states that the project was created in collaboration with Wonder Studios and director Dev Walker. It also invites users to comment if they would like a full breakdown of how it was produced.
Back in July, Musk had announced that Grok Imagine would produce a feature-length film based on the Homeric epic by the end of 2026, describing it as “historically accurate” and faithful to Homer’s artistry. It remains unclear how many episodes the series will include or whether it will ultimately serve as the feature film he had previously announced. The AI version of the Odyssey comes on the heels of Musk’s repeated public criticism of Christopher Nolan’s live-action film adaptation of the Odyssey.

Musk’s AI Odyssey and the feud with Christopher Nolan
Elon Musk had previously reacted strongly to Christopher Nolan’s casting choices, specifically the selection of Lupita Nyong’o for the role of Helen and Elliot Page for the role of Sinon, arguing that the director was chasing Oscar diversity requirements. In a social media post, he labeled Nolan “racist against white people.” Musk accused the director of “grossly insulting the Greeks” and “desecrating Homer’s grave” in response to Nolan’s creative choices for his adaptation of the ancient epic.
